Relief Prints

All of my print since 2011 have been relief prints. Initially they have been wood engravings that were made by cutting into ingrain blocks of maple of the synthetic medium of Resingrave ©. Last year, wanting to create circular images to go along with my Planets watercolors (LINK) , I started making linoleum cuts because this matrix is much easier to shape than that made of wood. Each of them have areas of hand-coloring with watercolor.

HANDS

This series of white-line relief prints are closely associated with my Hands watercolor series. Most of the images were cut on blocks of Resingrave ©, a synthetic alternative to endgrain blocks of hardwoods. But I refer to these prints as wood engravings anyway.
