Relief Prints
All of my prints since 2011 have been relief prints. Initially they were wood engravings made by cutting either into endgrain blocks of maple or the synthetic medium of Resingrave ©. In 2022, wanting to create circular images to go along with my Planets watercolors (LINK), I started making linoleum cuts because linoleum was easier to cut into a circle than blocks made of wood or of a synthetic. Each of the linocuts have small areas hand-colored with watercolor.
Circularity Linocuts
The first 15 of these hand-colored linocuts became the basis for the book “Circularity, which pairs these linocuts with haiku by Cambridge, MA, poet Karen Klein. To learn about the creation of this book, please follow the LINK

This series of white-line relief prints are closely associated with my Hands watercolor series. Most of the images were cut on blocks of Resingrave ©, a synthetic alternative to endgrain blocks of hardwoods. But I refer to these prints as wood engravings anyway.
